Parking:

Parking continues to be a problem for us here in St. Joseph’s and I would like to make a few requests –

1. Please do not park at the front gates of the school. When people park there they block the line of vision for all drivers coming out from Arklow and cause a dangerous situation for your children.

2. At 3 o’clock do not park in the bus bays. The two buses that serve the school have to park at the opposite side of the road and at the Church entrance. When we have school tours the buses have to wait for cars to leave.

3. Please use the Church Car Park. There is lots of space there and safe pedestrian access to the school.

4. The Staff Car Park is strictly for staff and wheelchair access. It is not a public car park. Please do not use the Staff Car Park to drop off children.

5. Pedestrian access is through the main front gate in front of the school onto the new junior play area and also at the gate in the Church car park.

6. Children from 1st to 6th are old enough to come into the school on their own. This would free up parking.

CARPARKING
We have limited Car Park space in the Church Car Park and we are constantly appealing to people to help us out in using the available spaces.
In the first instance we appeal to those living near the school to walk and leave the cars at home.
It is far healthier to get a blast of air in the morning and evening.
Secondly, we ask people who live near each other to car pool and share the driving and free up scarce car parking space.
Thirdly, please let your children in 1st.., 2nd., 3rd., 4th., 5th. and 6th. walk into the school.
There is no need to park the cars and bring in school bags etc. for them. This would free up a lot of space.
Drop your children off as quickly as possible. Try to keep bags with the children in the car rather than have to stop and open the boot and cause delay.
People coming from the north side of the town could park in the Dublin north side of the car park.
Please help us out here. Observe the simple rules on the car park map.
Please leave the wheelchair space free for those who need it.
Please do not park in the yellow boxes. (grids)
Please be careful and vigilant.
Check your mirrors before you pull out and keep a constant look out for children.
With the co-operation of everyone involved in the life of St. Joseph's we can improve the car park situation.

Thanks for your co-operation.
Please keep the flow of traffic going.

Mr. Michael O'Callaghan Principal p.p. Board of Management
